WHAT IS CELL  ?

The cell is the fundamental and functional unit of all living organisms. 



Robert Hooke discovered the cell from Cork section (1665)

Anton Von Leeuwenhoek discovered the first living cell (1674)


CELLS ACCORDING TO SIZE::

According to size, there are wide variations of the Cells.

¤ Smallest Cell : Mycoplasma gallisepticum,  Mycoplasma laidlawii (0.1 μ)

¤ Largest Animal Cell : 
Egg of Ostrich. (170 mm*135 mm)

¤ Longest Human Cell :
Nerve Cell. (90cm to 1 m) 

¤ Smallest Human Cell :
Platelets. (2 to 3 μm) 

¤ Largest Unicellular Plant Cell : Acetabularia (5 to 10 cm long) 

¤ Longest Multicellular Plant Cell:
Fiber of Ramie (Boehmeria nivea)  (55 cm) 

¤ Animal cell visible in naked eye :
Eggs of Birds, some reptiles.
